A Typical Session at the Pre-School...     <<< back

Whilst the children arrive and settle, we usually have a music and movement session in a large group.

Following the EYFS guidelines, we gather together on the carpet to discuss the date, weather and any news or interests the children have at that time. After carpet time the children split into their keyperson groups.

Activities are based on the child’s current interests as well as any topics we would like to introduce. These topics are usually in line with the calendar such as festivals, mother’s/father’s day, Children in Need etc. The activities are adapted by their keyperson to take into account all children’s stage of development.

A key aspect of our day is child initiated play where the children are allowed to choose whether they go outside or stay inside and they are encouraged to move freely around their environment.
